Las Vegas Tipping Guide

Since Las Vegas is a service-based city, giving tips is a big deal. But you need to know how much and when to give a tip. Here are some points you might want to consider:

  1. Valet parking attendants:           These attendants normally receive $1 to $2. but if you decide to leave your car up front, I think they deserve much than that. You can give them between $10 to $30.
  2. Taxi drivers:      Usually 15% of your total fare is the tip given to taxi drivers. Anyway, they drive you fast to your place and help you out with your baggage, plus some chitchats while you’re going.
  3. Dealers:            Tips to dealers can range from $1 to as much as you like to give. But it would be better if you give your tip at the end of the session.
  4. Keno and Bingo runners:           Even if you’re not winning, you are advised to give a tip of $1 for every few rounds.
  5. Cocktail waitresses:      These girls receive $1 to $2 but when they’re consisting of 2 to 3 persons. But if they’re larger in a group, the more you’re required to give a higher amount of tip.
  6. Food servers:   15 to 20% is given to food servers even if you see in your bill that a gratuity or privilege has been given. My suggestion, give a tip depending on the quality of the food they serve.
  7. Bellmen:           They usually get $1 per bag. But if they help you get a taxi or you ask them to make show reservations, I think they deserve another tip.
  8. Cigarette Girls:  Usually, they get $1 to $2. But it also depends on how much you buy or how many times you make them come back.
  9. Concierge:        Tips for this one ranges from $2 to $20. They usually help out on show reservations, appointments, ticket reservations and tours.
  10. Front desk clerks:         You can give any amount that you want. But I’ve heard that guests usually give $10 to $15. Front desk clerks are the ones in-charged with room. So, if you’d like to ask for a room upgrade, better give a flat $15.
  11. Room service:   Give the usual 15 to 20% tip to these people who bring back and forth your breakfast, unless a tip is already included in your bill.
  12. Change person: Remember to tip this person especially when you win. If you won big, give a little more than the usual.
  13. Slot supervisors:           They are the ones who fill the hopper and fix bill jams. It wouldn’t hurt if you give a tip, right?
  14. Pool attendants:            $1 or $2 can be given to these attendants. If you like to give more, why not?
  15. Maids:  It’s just enough to give a dollar or two to a maid a day.

These are just some points you might want to consider. But you’re always free to tip more!

If you happen to like a cocktail waitress, use your money. Since the drinks are free, you can give as much tip as you want to give. Remember to be polite. They don’t forget the customers who do or say rude things to them. But if you think you’ve done the two and still nothing happens, it’s time for you to wear something loud and wild.
